Badges at Home

There are many badges or parts of badges that can be ticked off by activities young people do outside of Beavers, Cubs or Scouts.

Outdoor and adventurous activities can count towards the challenge awards.

If your young person does martial arts there is an activity badge for that.

There are also activity badges like animal carer, artist, book reader and photographer that can be obtained with home activities.

Please see below for some instructions on how to look at badge requirements and upload evidence to OSM (online scout manager).

Remember to take some photos or video wherever possible of your Cub doing the activity so that you can upload it to OSM after and get the badge requirement ticked off.

If there is part of the badge that requires your young person to tell a leader about their activity let us know and we can make time for it in one of the sessions.

There are seven challenge awards for Cubs and if you achieve all of them you get the Chief Scout’s Silver Award. Beaver’ and Scout’s have their own challenge awards leading to the Bronze and Gold Chief Scout awards

Staged badges have more than one level. Your young person may already have level 1 but can do activities towards the next level. Click Select a Stage at the top of the badge details page to see the requirements for the different levels.

How to Up Load Evidence

Uploading evidence on OSM:

  1. Login to OSM Log in to Online Scout Manager
  2. Click on your child’s name in the left hand menu to expand and view all the options
  3. Select Badges
  4. Select Completable At Home from the left hand side
  5. Click a badge to see the different activities required
  6. Click Complete at Home at the bottom
  7. Upload photos, videos or other descriptions of what your Cub has done and tick the activity covered – this should then save automatically
  8. Add optional comments if you like to explain anything
  9. Leaders get a notification that new evidence has been uploaded and we can verify the badge requirement and add comments if needed
